  • Using Speakers

We recommend using headphones for the test. If they are not available, a pair of speakers may be used instead. However, the test results will be less accurate.

If you are using speakers, we recommend that you sit so that your head is located midway between the speakers during the test. An ear-to-speaker distance of about 3 feet between each ear and its respective speaker is optimal, although it is more important to make sure that the ear-to-speaker distances remain the same both throughout the test, and especially between the reference test and the hearing test. In addition, speaker users should plug one ear while the other is being tested. You can use regular earplugs or tightly cover the ear canal with a fingertip to plug the untested ear.

Maintaining head-to-speaker distances and plugging the untested ear will greatly improve test accuracy. Nonetheless, we encourage you to use headphones if possible.

    Please use Microsoft Internet Explorer

If this is your first time to do the test, please download sound files.
